Lisa West is an artist who uses paint to express how she sees the world around her. Her colourful artworks explore the whimsy and story found in daily rituals, relationships and histories. Working in professional-grade acrylic, Lisa’ s process involves a balance between building and removing paint and collage material.
From an early age, Lisa was exposed to a world of creativity having a Mum who was an artist. Immersed in the language of colour, words like umber, yellow ochre and cadmium became part of her early vocabulary. It was in those early years, she first learned to observe and led to a lifelong fascination for colour.
Prior to painting, Lisa worked with children and their families in health, education, and art gallery settings. She has attended painting tuition at various art schools since 2000 and now paints full-time from her home studio in Brisbane/Meanjin.
